Global Pathway Programme - Medicine
This intensive one-year programme is specifically designed to prepare individuals for undergraduate studies in Medicine, Dentistry, and other life science-related disciplines.
Course Overview
The programme places strong emphasis not only on subject-specific content in Biology and Chemistry, but also on equipping students with the learning strategies and academic skills required for success at the undergraduate level.
A key feature of the programme is its problem-based learning (PBL) approach, embedded in two core modules, which mirrors the interactive and analytical teaching style participants will encounter in medical and life science degree programmes.
While all applicants must demonstrate a strong academic aptitude, the programme is open to participants from diverse educational backgrounds. It is purposefully designed to build a solid foundation of scientific knowledge and critical academic competencies essential for progression to higher education.
The teaching and learning experience is student-centred, incorporating a wide variety of active methodologies. Individuals benefit from small-group sessions, interactive tutorials, and formative activities such as self- and peer-assessment. These approaches encourage deep learning and active participation. Learning is further supported through Canvas, our Virtual Learning Environment, which provides access to a comprehensive range of digital resources. Participants also receive full access to Perlego, an online academic library offering over one million textbooks.
Assessment is conducted through a combination of examinations and coursework, with 70% of the Natural Sciences component weighted toward summative exams. Coursework is designed to be challenging, diverse, and skills-oriented, helping students become confident, capable, and engaged learners.
In addition, Academic English support is available both prior to the programmeโs start and throughout the academic year, ensuring participants develop the language proficiency required to thrive in an English-medium higher education environment.
